It Is Stupid to Hate Correction: a reblog of sorts

“To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.” Proverbs 12:1 (NLT)

To learn I have to love discipline?

Who in their right mind loves discipline? I certainly don’t, but none the less, to hate correction is, as the Bible says, stupid.

Can the Bible say that? And the answer is, yes It did. I believe the Bible used such a powerful word here because it wanted to get the point across. It was meant to get our attention. . . .

This is a good article from a very good site. Enjoy!

Notice: You Are Safe at Home’s Cool

In Arkansas, the state from which I post, home schooling is protected by law. Home schooling parents are a protected group.

I have researched today what to do about violent content in the comments.

I think any attack on a commenter is inexcusable. Every commenter on my site is a guest, and as such, is at my mercy.

My commenters need to feel they are safe at my site.

Yesterday’s post, which is part of a 4-part series beginning here, has been published in a popular homeschooling magazine (circulation, 22,000) and my editor printed it word for word, so I do not feel it was an unwise post.  The WordPress crew is welcome to correct me on that, in private. I will respond, accordingly.

I have done all I can to make peace, but so far have received no response. I cannot afford to wait longer.

Sadly, for the first time in two years, I must remove a comment from yesterday’s post.

I welcome disagreement.

But hate speech directed toward my commenters will not be protected on this site.

All readers are welcome, welcome, welcome.

All commenters are welcome, welcome, welcome.

And anyone who is driven to hatred by reading here is welcome to turn the page.

More Shots

Two people, including a security guard, were reportedly shot this morning at the headquarters of the pro-life group Family Research Council.

According to information provided to LifeNews from a Washington pro-life source, a man posing as an intern shot the guard at the FRC office located at 801 G Street, NW. FRC staffer Anna Maria Hoffman added more information on Twitter, “Our security guard Leo [Johnson] got shot in the arm. Please keep him in your prayers.”

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins confirmed the security officer was shot and said in a statement, “The police are investigating this incident. Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”

You can read lots more about this here.

I have a confession to make . . .

 . . . I didn’t watch the Olympics.

Olympic Games 2016
Olympic Games 2016 — See what I mean!

At all.

Oh, well, one night while we enjoyed fajitas at the local restaurant, their T.V. was on and we saw a couple of guys dive.
They were good.

But . . .

. . . I felt my blood pressure rising and just decided to be cool. Why spoil a wonderfully fresh meal with nearly naked guys getting wet for fun and/or profit,
albeit very skillfully?

They say everybody who was anybody was watching. I don’t know.

WordPress says those who were not watching are rare.

I am one of the rare ones.

I was busy.

I was enjoying really good food with a really handsome guy.

Other times, I was mowing, blogging, counseling, bathing, cleaning house, sleeping, washing clothes, baking, wrapping gifts,  ironing, helping my grown son move.

Out.

I already have a life.

I already have something to do.

I also did not blog about the Olympics.

Really, some kids competed and somebody won?

Good.

Rumors that it was rigged?

Nothing new.

AS IN: THIS IS NOT NEWS.

Happens all the time.

When they killed a bunch in Germany during the Olympics, that was news.

I really never wanted to watch much, after that.

Rare.

To care.

To dare.

To admit I wasn’t there.

I don’t do football, either.

Nor baseball, unless my grandson asks.

The only sport that really interests me, anymore, is volleyball.

If I get to play.

Your serve.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Purple

My husband and I have been married 42 years. Since we both grew up with lilacs in our mothers’ yards, we wanted them in our yard for our children.

Almost every place we lived, I tried to grow us a lilac bush.

I had little success, which surprises most people, since they are an easy-going plant. We’ve moved about 15 times, so we left a wide wake of surprised friends.

We’ve settled in, where we now live. On this property, which has amazingly elevated, rocky soil, are four lilac bushes: a pink, a French blue, a white, and a wild purple. They bloom. They grow. They survive drought. We can hardly believe it!

Lightning over Pentagon City in Arlington, Vir...
Lightning over Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia

Listen, I tell you a mystery:

We will not all sleep,

but we will all be changed —

in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye,

at the last trumpet.

For the trumpet will sound,

the dead will be raised imperishable,

and we will be changed.

— 1 Corinthians 15:51-52
