I went to town with “purple” on my mind, for some reason (!) and was shocked to see the propensity to purple all around me.

I found the purple shed behind the house that used to be purple. We are so glad the new tenants painted the house white, but the shed remains in its original orchidity.

For some reason, purple ribbons flutter all over town. Purple is not the school color; red is. So why these ribbons everywhere, I do not know.

Then, there is the motel with the purple dragon that laid the purple egg. This is an advertising ploy and attracts many families with children and red-hat ladies. And me.
Many beautiful examples of purple exist in all of creation, but these are just weird.

However, the local Hispanic restaurant uses every color in the rainbow for its decor. The fence happens to be purple.
Somehow, I don’t feel quite so weird. . . .
The first shot caught my eye. We’re not purple. We’re blue–a light cerulean to be exact. I still have plans to paint the beast. Apparently it was pink before. I can see it in the places where the blue has flaked away. My husband informs me, when the house was pink the defunct tractor and numerous out-buildings along with parts of the interior were also pink–a brink, almost fluorescent pink.
I imagine the neighbors will have the same feeling of relief when our house turns a respectable house color. Although, I’ve often threatened to paint paw prints on the house along with a large mural of that dog from the children’s show.
Really, the purple looks tame in comparison. No accounting for taste…or lack thereof.
Looks tame, even cute, as a shed. Perhaps could use some sunflowers painted on.
But as an entire house? Nah.
I love that dragon!
Isn’t it something! It used to be a shade more purple, but the sun has had its say in things. You’d be surprised at how many stop to photograph it, including yours truly. No one even looked twice at the crazy gal half hanging out her truck window with a camera in hand. Tourists!! ๐
