Where Do You Home School?

You could study in the rain, perhaps?
Some can study in the rain?

Here is a partial list that will inspire you through the end of the winter doldrums and on into the joys of SPRING!

  1. Car.
  2. Park.
  3. Blanket under a shade tree.
  4. Hospital waiting room.
  5. Front porch (although the swing may cause motion sickness.)
  6. Grandma’s house.
  7. Mall.
  8. Restaurant.
  9. Van.
  10. Oak tree.
  11. Play house.
  12. Floor.
  13. Recliner.
  14. Deck.
  15. Kitchen table.
  16. Cushy window seat.
  17. Under a tent made of blankets draped over your bedroom furniture.
  18. Inside a real tent.
  19. Public library.
  20. Church.
  21. A friend’s house.

  23. Attic.

Now. You’re turn! Which of the above would be your children’s favorites? Where else can we study?

    1. Hello, Cristina!

We once lived in a house that had a finished attic and the children loved being up there. In fact, when we viewed the house to buy it, the owners had a small rug and child furniture up there. However, it was accessible only by ladder, so we did not use the space for anything but storage.

I know what you mean, though, and I had plans to finished the space and install stairs, but we had to make a job-related move. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

My personal favorite is #16. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. We have been doing school in the back yard the last couple days. That has been fun. I like the idea of doing it in a tent. The kids would be so excited!

    1. Thanks for commenting, Sharonah, and WELCOME to Home’s Cool! ๐Ÿ™‚

My kids loved working their lessons outdoors. I think anything outdoors was their favorite place. But they loved making a tent in their own rooms with blankets held together with clip clothespins, and improvised furniture, so it was actually more like an imaginary house. It took a long time to create, though, and putting it away at bedtime was also a lengthy task, so sometimes they slept there, too, in sleeping bags on the floor.

      Kids!

I have found that any change, though, makes for excitement, and in the doldrums that follow Christmas and winter weather, excitement is very necessary.

And after excitement comes little “sprinkles of peace” ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Hope you return, soon!

  2. Great list! My son loves to make blanket tents and has one made up now in our basement family room. Since our basement is finished and there is a kitchen down there, that’s a favorite spot for my 17-year old daughter. Also, we make good use of our island bar in our upstairs kitchen. It’s just a handy spot and the swivel chairs are fun and comfy to sit in. I agree with your personal favorite. I love window seats.

    1. Reading in a window seat just seems to be an iconic American thing to do, although I suppose they originated elsewhere . Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy your young tentmaker and his big sis! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Talya! You get it! You are absolutely right that all parents home school. Even those who do not do their job are teaching some dark thing about how children donโ€™t matter.
But in a garden! Goodness! I never thought of that! Thanks for chiming in! ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Definitely #5 — the front porch! Last week the sun shone and the temperature got up to about 40 degrees. My 9yo begged to read our science text on the porch. I finally gave in, and out we went with coats and blankets.

    1. Good morning, Lee, and WELCOME to Homeโ€™s Cool! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ah, for the good sense of a house-bound nine-year-old! Iโ€™ve been looking at the receding snow and dripping icicles, here, and wishing for Spring. Your little one found it!

Iโ€™m so glad you stopped by and commented; thanks so much! Iโ€™m looking forward to seeing you often. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. My Littles’ favorite would be #3–We love to take a blanket and supplies outdoors and enjoy our farm while we learn. In 12 inches of snow right now, though? I don’t even want to Look outside. lol

    1. Iโ€™ve heard of having a picnic in the LR, with a blanket on the floor and a beach unbrella, a tub of rice for sand, and all the picnic foods. Oh, and Hawaiian music playing? And maybe add a heat lamp? ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Of course! The couch. It completely slipped my mind. The only place to teach reading 101. How could I have forgotten the couch?! ๐Ÿ˜€
Thanks for your comment, here, and WELCOME to Home’s Cool!
And since it’s so warm where you are, do enjoy some deck time–and catch a few rays of sunny day for me, too. ๐Ÿ™‚
