Why You Would Kill a Christian

Killing Christians is a practice as old as Christianity. Those who practice it do nothing more than imitate their predecessors. Predecessors who attempted but failed to snuff out the life of our faith in its infancy.

The practice of persecution is hard for some to understand but it’s actually an understandable act. In fact, I can think of at least ten reasons to kill a Christian.

Homeschool Family Hit Hard…

I am sorry to have to report this, but I think you will want to help. The Tittle Family of Reformation Kidz , a supplier of curriculum content for home schooling families, lost three members in last night’s horrific tornado just north of Little Rock.

Mr. Tittle and two of the eldest daughters all perished in this disaster that left their home looking like this:

I only post this because I think there are those out there who would want to know what a person can do for fellow homeschoolers in such a horrible situation. You might find an answer at this link, which is to a benefit already set up for them.

Please pray about what you should do.

Thanks.

Shirley Temple died today. She was 85, which is hard to imagine.

I watched her darling performances when I was a child, and loved her, wanted to be her.

She was about 35 years old, then, older than my mom.

I never knew it.

When my own children were small, I searched out these amazing movies, for their viewing pleasure.

They also fell completely in love with the little cute-pie.

As an adult, I read her autobiography, Child Star. That broke my heart.

All the time she was smiling for us, it was because she feared being locked into a black box.

And all the money she made went to her mom, who used it to build luxury houses for self.

And her hair was naturally straight. Every kink came at quite a cost, for a tiny one.

But she really was that sweet and when she attended school she got in trouble for smiling all the time. She couldn’t not smile.

She just missed Valentine’s Day. Ironic, for everyone’s sweetheart, eh?

Probably my favorite of her movies are The Little Princess, because of the graciousness of the queen, the great scenes in the attic, and that thing with the ash bucket. Especially that thing with the ash bucket.

But I also love Captain January for the fairly true picture it gives of home school, and for the site of her tap dancing a hornpipe with a young Jed Clampett.

I shall miss her.

Giving Tuesday?

I’m supposed to have posted about my favorite nearby charity.

I was totally shocked to discover my favorite charity does business a half day’s drive away from me, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

That’s an unassuming place.

It’s an unassuming mission: providing surgery and prosthesis for Christians injured during persecution. Among other facets.

It just kills me to realize fellow brothers and sisters in Christ have been killed and maimed for their faith, left widowed, jobless, or homeless by the attacks of the violent.

But honestly, I think what bothers me most is finding persecution happening more and more, here, where I live, finding folks with stories that have been squelched, who do not even realize they are losing what we once had.

Okay, here is the mission: Voice of the Martyrs.

And here is just a tiny glimpse at what they deal with, daily:

An Afghan news service quoted Mr. Hanafi as saying, “Numerous Afghans have become Christians in India. This is an offense to Islamic laws, and according to the Quran, they need to be executed.” (from their website)

No, that’s not really a glimpse of what they deal with; not like the photos they send you if you ask for their literature. A photo of a little girl with her arm cut off, or of individual glass communion cups melted in a church torching will make you think. Will make you pray.

Will make you give.

What do you get for home schooling?

You get your children removed from the home at gunpoint and placed in foster care.

  2. You get permission to leave the country denied.
  3. You get your children placed, against your will, in a public school.
  4. You get threatened with jail and permanent removal of your children from your care, if you do anything about it.

IN GERMANY

Sound familiar?

“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was drafted in direct response to what happened in Nazi Germany. It recognizes that parents have a prior right over the government to decide how children are educated. That’s because German Nazis took over the country’s educational system and used it as a weapon of social dominion.”

GERMANY…

…Whose former home schools gave us:

Germany, who also gave us Hitler, has decided she likes her Hitler best. Again.

It works, no matter what.

A dear friend and blogging sis, Kate Kresse, has had the same idea I did.

Visiting last night via emails, we realized we were both planning the same post for today.

Can’t be just coincidence.

I mentioned a section of Scripture that encourages me in times such as ours, and she said she was posting on that very topic. So here we are.

Genesis 50:20-21 is one I use so often, I no longer have to research in order to find the reference. And with my memory, that’s a sure sign of much repetition. It goes:

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.”

Although I feel attacked by the very leader I should admire and trust, although his stated aims are to make my life as hard as possible, although he cares not about right or wrong as long as he perceives he is “winning”, although I feel my life and livelihood are merely casualties in some gross political game, I am not to fear.

I get it.

No fear. God will bring good from this in spite of the intentions of the one who seems to be in control of us.

Because that one is not really in control.

God is.

We will stand in awe and see amazing things, and my fear is slowly slinking away.

Thanks, Kate!
